That is a confusing question to answer. It contains less protein and calcium. It definitely has less fat and calories than ice cream. It becomes a matter of taste. If you want a richer flavor, choose ice cream. If you want cold, refreshing and healthier, choose sherbet.

You can use either one. This depends on how soon you want to eat it. This recipe is actually very simple to make. As it contains sweetened condensed milk and orange soda.

When you have the orange sherbet made, you should put it in an airtight container and then place it into the freezer.

  • Sweetened condensed milk
  • Orange soda

How to Make Homemade Orange Sherbet

Step 1. Mix together the orange soda and the sweetened condensed milk in a bowl.

Step 2. If using an ice cream maker, place the ingredients into the maker, and start churning. Churn for an hour, layer the mixture into a loaf pan or bowl, and freeze for 6-8 hours until completely frozen.

Step 3. If you do not have an ice cream machine, place the mixture directly into a loaf pan or bowl, and freeze for 1 hour.

Step 4. Remove the container and stir the mixture after 1 hour, then return to the freezer.

Step 5. Continue to remove the container and mix the ingredients every 2 hours until the sherbert is completely frozen. This will take 6-8 hours in total.

Not much different than ice cream, homemade 2 ingredient orange sherbet should take roughly 20 to 30 minutes to freeze.

Can I turn this recipe into popsicles?

All you need to do is pour the mix into popsicle molds and freeze for a couple of hours. Orange popsicles make a great treat for hot days.
